Nicola Bryant

Bio

Nicola Bryant landed the part of the American companion Peri in the BBC show Doctor Who immediately after she finished attending The Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, in 1983, for which she secured a scholarship. Cast by John Nathan-Turner she first appeared alongside Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor in the 1984 story Planet of Fire coming face to face with The Master. This was immediately followed by Davison’s final story the The Caves of Androzani, which is always high on the Doctor Who Magazine list of their all time favorite stories. As the then sole companion, Nicola enjoyed playing Peri opposite Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor with whom she battled against Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, The Rani and Sil.

Since leaving Doctor Who, Nicola has worked extensively in theatre up and down the country. In London her work ranges from leading roles in the West End in the thriller Killing Jessica at Savoy Theatre, in the award winning Strive at The Duke of York’s, and in Tom Stoppard’s multi award winning Rock ‘n’ Roll. In 2024 Nicola was at Belgrade Theatre in Coventry helping to workshop a new play, opposite the award winning Dave Willetts, as her theatrical husband and last year Nicola was a guest star appearing with Colin Baker and Terry Molloy in The Hound of The Baskervilles, which was an absolute treat.

Nicola has also made guest appearances in numerous television shows, most notably as Rowan Atkinson’s niece (Millicent) in Black Adder’s a Christmas Carol and the award winning comedies 10% ers and My Family (twice); as well as spending 3 years playing Martine in the BBC series The Biz. Nicola has guest starred in numerous other TV shows as well as the American thriller Headhunter, playing the American psychiatrist, who in real life released Ted Bundy back into society. At the end of 2017 Nicola was seen in the two final episodes of Star Trek Continues playing the guest lead Lana. In 2022 Nicola appeared in the horror movie The Wilds, for which she won a best supporting actress at the British Horror Film Festival. In the summer of 2026 Nicola has been filming the British sequel comedy film Party Party 2. In November 2026 Nicola will be in LA recording scenes for a new sci-fi thriller, which she’ll tell you all about.

Nicola has recorded numerous audio books and appeared in many audio dramas. She is still keeping Peri alive in the wonderful Big Finish range and has featured in the three Blu-Ray releases of seasons 21, 22 and 23. Currently Nicola is recording a new Spy thriller series by Michael Dylan. The first book is called The New Spy.

This month Nicola is appearing with a host of Doctor Who celebrities in A Christmas Carol at the Andover Theatre, but she won’t be replicating that laugh.

Nicola is very excited to be coming back to Chicago TARDIS after a long absence and she looks forward to catching up with old friends and making new ones too.
