Charity Auction

“In 900 years of time & space, I’ve never met anybody who wasn’t important.”

Our Chicago TARDIS Charity Auction will return in 2024.

For the last few years, we have worked with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, raising funds and awareness about hunger in the Chicagoland area. We’ve raised over $15,000 through our past efforts.

In addition, we began to support local cat shelter, The Catcade, in our 2018 auction.

We have subsequently added the Cancer Research Institute to our donation roster.

Through this annual event, we auction merchandise, special “packages”, and some higher-end collectible memorabilia throughout the convention weekend in support of our charities.

The process is as follows:

  • Those donating to our Charity Auction can begin dropping off donated items on the Thursday prior to the event, in our Registration area (Grand Ballroom D). Donations will also be accepted Friday morning until 10:30 am.

  • During our Silent Auction, you can bid on items during the day on Friday, Saturday, and early Sunday. Merchandise, memorabilia, and other items will be available for bid.

  • Items will be displayed in the back of Artist Alley (Magnolia) for looking and bidding during bidding hours.

  • Bidders will be notified of their winnings by Sunday afternoon of the convention. You can also be notified via SMS/Text message, and announcements will be made at the end of the convention. People who register can bid on both silent and live auction items, doubling the opportunity to help raise funds for a great organization.

The Northern Illinois Foodbank

Northern Illinois Food Bank – a proud member of Feeding America – is the source of nutritious food, innovative feeding programs, and hope for more than half a million people each year. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a goal of solving hunger in our 13-county service area, we rely on our generous donors, volunteers, and community partners – the local food pantries and feeding programs, food manufacturers and retailers, companies, foundations and individuals who join with us in our vision for no one to be hungry in Northern Illinois.

We invite you to join us through volunteering at one of our four centers (West Suburban Center in Geneva; North Suburban Center in Park City; Northwest Center in Rockford; South Suburban Center in Joliet), becoming a financial or food donor, and helping us spread the word about hunger in our community on Facebook and Twitter.

The Catcade

The Catcade was started by fellow cat lovers, Chris Gutierrez and Shelly Casey. They had one mission in mind when creating their concept and that was their love of felines and the need to “save all the cats”. They have traveled all over the world and in every location they visit their mission is to find the cat-related “thing to do”. On August 19, 2017 they opened the doors to The Catcade at 1235 W Belmont Ave in Chicago. They poured everything they had into their passion of saving cats and are proud of the work they do every day at The Catcade.

The Catcade is a non-profit, arcade-themed cat rescue, lounge, and our version of a cat café. Our lounge simulates a home environment. Cats are not kept in cages, instead they get to live in our 600 sq. ft. lounge where guests can pay $15 to visit the lounge and spend time playing, cuddling, and socializing rescue cats.

Cancer Research Institute

In memory of former Chicago TARDIS co-founder, program director, and life-long contributor, Jennifer Adams Kelley, portions of our yearly Charity Auction funds will be donated to the Cancer Research Institute.

The Cancer Research Institute is a US non-profit organization funding cancer research and based in New York City. They were founded in 1953 to develop immunologically-based treatments for cancer, and despite their name are a funding body for research rather than a research institute themselves, working with other institutes and organizations.

The organization offers research grants to students, postdoctoral fellows, and investigators at medical research institutions throughout the world. It also funds clinical trials testing promising immunotherapies in a variety of cancer types and convenes scientific conferences for tumor immunologists.
