And It Will Glow….

November 6, 2014 in Guests, News by JennAK

We’re excited to round off our guest list for this year’s event with Annette Badland! Annette played Margaret Blaine (aka Margaret Slitheen) in the 9th Doctor stories “Aliens of London,” “World War Three,” and “Boom Town.” She’s also know for her appearances in such diverse shows as All Creatures Great and Small, Wizards vs. Aliens, Eastenders, and Cutting It.

Also joining us will be Lars Pearson, Mad Norwegian Press publisher, and L.M. Myles, editor of Chicks Unravel Time and the just-announced Companion Piece. We’re delighted they both can join us again.

Focus: Sunday Brunch

October 19, 2014 in News, Programming by JennAK

Food, glorious food! Hot sausage and mustard….

(Sorry. We forgot that we’re not an Oliver! Convention for a moment.)

Sunday morning brunch… your chance to have a delightful buffet-style meal while getting to chat amiably with your fellow attendees and many of the convention guests. A separate-admission event (that requires convention membership to attend), the brunch runs from 10 a.m. – noon Sunday in the Lilac Room. Tickets are still available, but are going fast—just $55. Don’t miss out!

Focus: Accessibility Services

October 18, 2014 in convention departments, News by JennAK

We understand that not all our convention members are able to see or hear well, or move about (including standing) with ease. We offer help in the form of special seating areas in Main Programming and the ability to jump most of the queue for autographs and photographs. Stop by our Accessibility Services booth (just past Main Programming, before you turn the corner for Registration) to sign up for these help-meets (and to get the Super Secret Designation Thing to assure you can receive this help w/o inadvertent hassles from well-meaning staff). Hours will be the same as for Registration, and will be posted nearer the convention.

Focus: Registration

October 17, 2014 in convention departments, News by JennAK

Registration serves as the gateway to Chicago TARDIS. You claim your badge here, pick up a schedule and program book here, and get all the other information you need to have. If you’ve attended prior Chicago TARDISes (TARDI?), you’ll find the experience transformed for 2014. Instead of a booth, Registration will fill an entire room! We plan on separate lines for General Admission and All-Access/Reserved/Priority badge pick-up, along with a line dedicated to at-the-door memberships (assuming we still have any to sell at the door, of course!) and a station specifically for customer service issues. No longer will the entire registration line be held up because of an issue with one person’s membership!

We will open for badge pick-up on Thursday (Thanksgiving) night, as usual; we will also be open throughout the day on Friday-Sunday for badging needs. (Specific times will be posted nearer the convention.)
