Would You Like To Take A Survey?

December 18, 2012 in Website

If you didn’t attend Chicago TARDIS this year, or if you did attend but didn’t get around to filling out our survey, now’s your chance to let us know what you think. We want to know things like how you get to the convention, where you would like the convention to be located, and how you get your convention news. (And unlike at the con, there will be no mention of George Wendt and/or beans. Well, all right, other than just now.) This survey will only be available through the end of the year, though, so you’d better take it soon!

The First Four Guests

December 10, 2012 in Guests, News

At the Chicago TARDIS 2012 Closing Ceremonies, we announced our first four guests for 2013. Fittingly, together they represent the first four decades of Doctor Who. They are also some of the most-loved companions in the Whoniverse. Joining us– in order of appearance on the show– for our fantastic 50th Anniversary Celebration are

Frazer Hines, who played 2nd Doctor companion Jamie McCrimmon

Louise Jameson, who played 4th Doctor companion Leela

Nicola Bryant, who played 5th & 6th Doctor companion Peri Brown

Daphne Ashbrook, who played 8th Doctor companion Grace Holloway.

We’re excited to be welcoming back all four of these fabulous actors to our convention.

Friday Flashback: Closing Ceremonies 2001

December 8, 2012 in Friday Flashback, News

Ooh, we’re going back, back, BACK in time every Friday, to celebrate past conventions– and we’re starting with a doozy of a photo. You’ve all seen the crowd we had on stage for opening and closing ceremonies this year by now (either in person or via the photo galleries on our Facebook page). Here’s what things looked like back in 2001. Yep, you counted right– 8 guests. Nicholas Courtney, John Levene, Richard Franklin, Jason Haigh-Ellery (who hasn’t missed one yet), Caroline Morris, Lars Pearson, and (in his CT debut) Arnold T. Blumberg. Con Chair Gene Smith is in the foreground on the right; Tech Director Mike Olson (behind Gene in the 6th Doctor vest) subs for Program Director Jennifer Kelley, who actually ended up leaving the con on Sunday afternoon with a horrible case of the stomach flu. (Con crud struck early and hard!) We’ve come a long way– and we thank you for your love and support!

Change, My Dear….

December 7, 2012 in News, Website

… and it seems not a moment too soon.

Why, yes, the website has regenerated again. After reveling in some tasty old-school html programming for the better part of 2012, we have moved onto a WordPress platform. Being based in WordPress will allow us to post news tidbits in a timely fashion (such as what we’ve been putting on Facebook and Twitter the past several years), as well as keep the site up to date as easily as possible. We hope you like the new look– and as always, if you have suggestions on how to improve the site, let us know.
